About me
Mayor Thomas Schoenbein was sworn in as Mayor of Pasadena on Tuesday, July 1, 2025. A lifelong resident of the city for more than 50 years, he and his wife, Bonnie, are proud parents of two children and grandparents to three.
With more than eight years of service on the City Council, Mayor Schoenbein has been a consistent champion for accountability, transparency, and long-term infrastructure improvements. He has also been a strong advocate for business development, public safety, and initiatives that make Pasadena a more vibrant and welcoming community for families and businesses alike.
Drawing from a broad professional background, Mayor Schoenbein brings a valuable perspective and leadership to Pasadena’s diverse community. He spent 12 years with Phillips Chemical Company, gaining firsthand experience in the petrochemical industry, followed by a 20-year career with Academy Sports and Outdoors. After retiring in 2018, he earned his real estate license in 2019.
As a City Councilman, he used his diverse experience to achieve measurable results—addressing critical infrastructure needs, improving city services, and strengthening public safety. He remains committed to fiscal responsibility, innovative technology, and transparent, ethical governance in his role as Mayor.

Involvement
Community Involvement
Mayor Schoenbein is involved in the community and is an active member of South Main Baptist Church, the Pasadena Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association, Pasadena Citizens on Patrol, and the Pasadena Independent School District Education Foundation Advisory Board. He previously coached Pasadena and Deer Park Little League and served as the Pasadena Umpire Association Vice President and President. As Mayor, he continues to attend as many HOA Meetings as possible throughout the city to show continued support to the community.
Community Support
Making a Real Difference
Mayor Schoenbein has supported many crucial community projects, including the upgrading of several Pasadena Volunteer Fire Stations, the construction of new state-of-the-art fire and police department training facilities, a new municipal courthouse, multiple street and sidewalk improvements, bike trails, neighborhood lighting, economic development, and crucial flood mitigation projects. He has also supported the police department's take-home car program, the purchase of new technology and equipment, pay raises, and quality insurance for all city employees. He maintains a priority on local small businesses and city projects that benefit our community.
